AlliedSignal In $1 Billion 728JET Supply Deal

Farnborough, England - Another supplier took the opportunity at Farnborough to announce their involvement in the Fairchild Dornier 728JET regional jet family as the rush to jump on the regional bandwagon continues.

AlliedSignal will supply integrated environmental control systems and auxiliary power units for the recently launched new series of aircraft in a contract estimated at somewhat over $1 billion.

AlliedSignal's ECS consists of the bleed air system, air conditioning system, cabin pressure control system, and associated high-pressure ducting design with a bleed air leak detection. The company is also responsible for the low-pressure cabin ducting and air distribution system and avionics cooling.

AlliedSignal will provide its RE220FD APU for the aircraft. The APU will provide compressed air for main engine starting as well as electrical power for the aircraft, with start and operate capabilities throughout the flight envelope.

The RE220FD has also been selected for the Bombardier Global Express, the Gulfstream GV and the Canadair Regional Jet.

In addition to the ECS and APUs, the Normalair-Garrett Limited joint venture between AlliedSignal and GKN Westland will also partner with Parker-Abex on the hydraulic systems for the new aircraft.

Initial deliveries of the first 728JET series aircraft are expected in mid-2001.
