United
orders 8 Boeing 767-300's

As part of United Airline's ongoing fleet replacement program, the company
announced it has ordered eight Boeing 767-300 aircraft. The deal's value
has not yet been disclosed.
The jet engine maker, Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies
Corp., won the contract to power the aircraft. That contract is worth about
$115 million.
The new 767's will be used on domestic routes to replace older United
planes when delivery begins.
The aircraft will be delivered over the next three years with four planes
arriving in 1998, one in 1999 and three in 2000, bringing United's fleet
of 767-300's to 31.
United has completed orders for 111 aircraft that will replace 111 aircraft
scheduled for retirement from 1996 to 2002.
