Orbital Describes First Half Orders And Firm Contract Backlog
As further evidence of the red hot market for commercial satellite
launches, Orbital Sciences Corporation announced last week that it has
received approximately $535 million in new orders for its space and ground
infrastructure systems product lines in the first half of this year. Total
new orders include approximately $400 million in firm orders and $135
million in options for the company's space-related products. With these new
orders, the company's firm backlog has increased to over $875 million.
Approximately $195 million of the total first-half bookings relate to
Orbital's launch vehicle product lines, including its Pegasus and Taurus
space launch vehicles and its suborbital launch vehicles. Other new
business booked so far in 1997 includes approximately $230 million of
orders for the company's small satellites and related space systems. In
addition, approximately $45 million in orders were received for satellite
ground systems and software products, and $65 million in orders were booked
for space sensors and electronics.
Orbital is a space and information systems company that designs,
manufactures, operates and markets a broad range of affordable space
infrastructure systems, satellite access products and satellite-provided
services, including launch vehicles, satellites, sensors and electronics,
