Bombardier Beats Farnborough To The Punch With Dash 8 Announcement

Farnborough, September 5 -- Last Wednesday's deHavilland order announcement in Toronto took the industry by surprise. Not by size, although the 25 Dash 8s sold to Horizon Air of Seattle, Washington, was a $270 million deal. Most in the industry press simply wondered why Bombardier didn't wait five days to make a big splash at the major international air show of the year.

Horizon has been operating Dash 8 aircraft in its fleet for the last eleven years. The airline currently has 23 Dash 8s.

Bombardier's Regional Aircraft Division will begin deliveries of the orders in February 1997. Horizon also holds options for 15 conditional aircraft and 30 options.
