GE Shows Off A Thrust Vectored YF-120![]() Farnborough, September 6 -- GE Aircraft Engines is showing a YF120 jet engine with axisymmetric vectoring exhaust nozzle (AVEN). This is the first time the engine has been shown fitted with the thrust vectoring nozzle. The YF120 was selected as an alternate engine for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). The engine is a product of a collaboration between GE, Allison and Rolls-Royce. With AVEN fitted, the exhaust can be diverted in any direction up to 20 degrees from center axis. This capability matches performance characteristics of the engines being fitted to MiG 1.42, currently under development by Russia's MiG MAPO to compete with the U.S. F-22 and JSF aircraft.
