"McChopper" Takes Orders For 23 Helicopters

Farnborough, September 5 -- McDonnell Douglas announced the sales and optional purchase agreement for 13 helicopters from its light helicopter family. The new orders brings a total of 23 helicopters now announced at Farnborough by McDonnell Douglas. Value of today's order was estimated at close to $6 million. Total value of all helicopter sales announced this week by the company stands at over $40 million.

One MD 600N single-turbine helicopter is going to Presta Services, the first French customer for this model. The second sale is for three helicopters to UND Aerospace, an education and training arm of the University of North Dakota. UND ordered one MD Explorer, one MD 600N and one MD 500E. The organization took options for 9 additional MD 500Es.

Earlier this week, McDonnell Douglas announced the sales of 10 MD Explorer helicopters to Police Aviation Services of the UK. These helicopters will enter service in police and medical use throughout Britain.
