South Korea To Build Jet Trainers
The government of South Korea reported last week that it will resurrect its plan to build 94 trainers at a cost of $1.5 billion. The KTX-2 project, on hold due to lack of funds, was pulled off the back burner to meet a perceived North Korean threat.

Lufthansa Talks About Global Cargo Alliance
Lufthansa revealed that its cargo unit is talking with other carriers about a global alliance, perhaps similar to the Star Alliance. The Lufthansa passenger unit is linked with five other international carriers in the recently announced Star Alliance for common marketing.

Pratt & Whitney In $485 Million Upgrade Order
United Technologies' Pratt & Whitney unit will supply kits to upgrade F100PW and F200 engines on U.S. Air Force F-15s and F-16s in a $485 million order. The upgrades will convert the existing engines to F100-PW-22E configuration engines for the aircraft.

EU's Commission Says Alitalia Aid Is A Subsidy
