List of modifications made to
L'Esprit d'Intertechnique 1997
for this flight

Installation of a standard, slung ferry tank equipped with an in-flight refueling device, essentially made up of a reel containing a 13m long tube that can be reeled out and back, plus a transfer pump to the main tank onboard the helicopter.

Specific radio and video equipment consists of :

  • two VHF and marine band transceivers
  • HF
  • radio-altimeter
  • M standard transceiver for satellite voice communications and fixed images
  • C standard transmitter providing the GPS position
  • 2 GHz video transmitter
  • 1-25 GHz video transmitter
  • SARSAT distress beacon on liferaft

Additional modifications include:

  • Standard emergency flotation gear
  • An Arriel 2 engine, SIN 003
  • A standard second battery kit, modified to be used as an emergency electric power system in case of failure of the electrical generation system.
  • An additional instrument panel at the copilot's station
  • A fuel consumption measurement unit from Faure Herman
  • An SFIM T31 autopilot limited to two pitch and roll flight control axes
